Another Cutthroat Concerts Metal Spectacular ROCKS Hangar 1819

Cutthroat Concerts and Events and Hangar 1819 in Greensboro, NC on September 7, 2024, featured a killer lineup, with headliners (hed) PE, supported by Waking Tera, Heathensun, Devil May Die, and Enemies and Allies. The show delivered an intense mix of nu-metal, rap-rock, and hard-hitting performances, living up to the expectations of fans of the underground metal scene.


(hed) PE, the iconic rap-rock pioneers based out of Huntington beach California, played a powerful headlining set filled with fan favorites and newer tracks, blending their signature aggressive vocals with socially charged lyrics. With Jared Gomez on lead vocals, Jeremiah “Trauma” Stratton on drums and backing vocals, Kurt Blankenship a.k.a “Kid Bass” and Nathan Javier on guitar, their performance had the crowd moving, highlighting the band’s
raw energy and connection with the audience. A high-energy blend of their signature mix of punk, metal, and reggae. The intimate setting of Hangar 1819 allowed for a raw and immersive experience, which is typical for the venue, known for its smaller, more personal shows. Fans were treated to both classic hits and newer material, with the band delivering a powerful performance. The crowd was active and engaged, which elevated the atmosphere even more. Waking Tera is a rising alternative 6-piece metal band from Jacksonville North Carolina that fuses aggressive vocals, intricate guitar riffs, and atmospheric melodies. With vocalist KP, guitarist/keyboardist Ben Schrider, Dustin Varner, and Zach Robinson on guitar, bassist Aaron Yow and drummer Mike Mitchell, they are known for their dynamic live performances, they create an immersive experience for their audience, blending heavy breakdowns with melodic sections, offering both intensity and emotion. The band stood out with their polished stage presence and ability to engage the crowd.

Their sound is rooted in metalcore and post-hardcore influences, which they balance with moments of melody and clean vocals, giving their music a broader emotional range. Heathensun brought their own flavor of nu-metal to the stage, reflecting their Beastie Boys meets Limp Bizkit style. The Wilmington-based band featuring Johnny Anthrax ‘Johnny #32’ on lead vocals, Mark White (formerly of Crazy Town) on guitar and vocals, Arrol Kelly ‘AK- 47’ on lead guitar, Sean Heenan ‘Heezy #87’ (formerly of Attilla) on drums, and Wyatt Fink ‘Crypto #22’ on bass, the band has been gaining momentum and their performance showcased tracks from their latest album Nu-Metal Ninjas (2023). Their energy matched the rowdiness of the night. Super fun band to watch. Lots of crowd interaction. HeathenSun’s performance was an explosive showcase of their unique nu-metal sound. The band delivered an energetic set that kept the crowd engaged throughout the night. Fans were treated to a mix of songs from their three albums. Their gritty, rebellious vibe matched the raw, industrial feel of Hangar 1819, making for an unforgettable experience.

Devil May Die was part of an energetic lineup. Hailing from Danville Virginia and featuring Adam Walker on vocals, Nick Mattox on guitar, Josh Parsons on bass, and Hunter “Stretch” Milam on drums. The crowd was treated to an intense night of metal, with Devil May Die displaying their signature mix of aggressive vocals, heavy riffs, and dark, atmospheric tones. The intimate venue setting helped heighten the intensity of the performance, making it a standout for fans of heavy music. If you were there, it sounds like you had a great night of heavy music!

The Charlotte North Carolina natives Enemies & Allies’ performance was an electrifying showcase of their energetic sound and dynamic stage presence. Vocalist Kyle Nesslinger, guitarist Kirill Malienko, bassist Alex Retianu, and drummer Marz Minter, the band is known for their melodic yet hard-hitting rock style, the band delivered a high-octane set that thrilled the crowd from start to finish. The intimate nature of Hangar 1819—a smaller venue without barriers between the band and audience—enhanced the connection between the performers and the crowd, creating an immersive experience.

The acoustics of the venue were solid, with only minor critiques regarding sound balance, a common concern at Hangar 1819. Still, the raw intensity of Enemies & Allies’ music kept fans engaged throughout the show. The energy was palpable, with crowd participation playing a significant role in elevating the
