Under Black Sky:
Under Black Sky brought a palpable shift in the atmosphere, leaning into a heavier, groove-laden sound that hit hard from the moment they stepped on stage. Opening with “Bad Blood,” their dynamic interplay of crushing riffs and ominous melodies created a haunting, yet engaging soundscape that drew the audience deeper into the night’s lineup. The band’s stage presence was intense, with bassist Jaxx and guitarists Torch and Onyx moving in unison as their drummer Beast, laid down thunderous rhythms that resonated through the venue.

Their set was a masterclass in pacing, with slower, sludgy buildups that erupted into chaotic breakdowns, keeping the crowd on edge and the pit in constant motion. Tracks like “Burn It Down” and “Devil Is Me” (featuring Waylon Reavis from A Killer’s Confession) showcased their knack for layering heavy instrumentation with atmospheric undertones, giving their music a cinematic quality.

Vocalist Krysis’ commanding performance stood out, delivering guttural growls and piercing screams with precision, while also engaging the crowd with calls to action. The audience responded with a resounding roar. Fans near the stage thrashed along, while others formed a small but relentless mosh pit, feeding off the band’s unrelenting energy.

Under Black Sky’s ability to combine brutality with a sense of artistry made their set a standout. They left a powerful impression from start to finish, closing out with “One Step Closer,” proving they are a force to be reckoned with in the metal scene and a worthy addition to this killer lineup.

LYLVC:
LYLVC brought an electrifying energy to the stage that stood out in the night’s lineup. Their unique blend of alternative rock, electronic elements, and a dual-vocal dynamic made for a performance that was both emotionally charged and irresistibly engaging. From the moment the lights dimmed and the opening notes of their opening song filled the room, the audience was hooked.

The chemistry between vocalists Alyse Zavala and Oscar Romero was one of the highlights of their set. Their ability to seamlessly trade verses, harmonize, and inject their individual styles into each song gave the performance depth and variety. The clean vocals soared with emotion, while the alternating growls added a gritty edge that brought balance to their sound.

LYLVC’s musicianship was just as impressive. Their guitarists Seth Morgan and Cameron Gillette delivered sharp, melodic riffs that cut through the room, while their bassist Kenneth Kaval and drummer Ryan Powell anchored the sound with a tight, driving rhythm section. Their electronic elements added an atmospheric layer, creating a sound that felt modern and immersive. Their newest song “XXX” was a hit with the crowd.

What truly set LYLVC apart was their ability to engage the fans. Zavala frequently stepped to the edge of the stage, reaching out to fans and encouraging them to clap and chant along. The crowd responded enthusiastically, feeding off the band’s high energy. The song “Heirloom” was a particularly emotional moment, with its poignant lyrics and soaring vocal melodies resonating deeply with the audience.

Aaron Nordstrom (Special Solo Set):
Aaron Nordstrom’s solo set was an unforgettable and deeply emotional highlight of the evening. Known for his work as the frontman of Gemini Syndrome, Nordstrom traded the heavy, industrial sound fans associate with his band for a stripped-down and intimate acoustic performance. This change of pace was a bold move in a lineup filled with high-energy acts, but it proved to be a deeply impactful and welcomed moment of reflection for the crowd.

Nordstrom’s ability to hold the room’s attention with his voice, a piano and a guitar were remarkable. His raw, powerful vocal delivery resonated throughout Hangar 1819, capturing the vulnerability and emotional depth of his songwriting. Tracks like “Beautiful Tragedy” “Basement” and “Anonymous Medley” took on new life in their most intimate form, with the stripped-back arrangements highlighting the intricate lyrics and heartfelt melodies. His ability to balance moments of delicate falsetto with bursts of intense emotion showcased his vocal range and control.

Between songs, Nordstrom’s interactions with the crowd added another layer of intimacy to his set. He shared personal stories and insights into the meanings behind his songs, creating a bond with the audience that went beyond the music, drawing cheers of support and appreciation from the crowd.

The standout moment of his set was a stirring rendition of “Remember We Die,” a Gemini Syndrome favorite reimagined in an acoustic format. The audience sang along, their voices blending with Nordstrom’s in a moment that felt almost sacred. The vulnerability of the performance turned the venue into a shared space of catharsis, with many fans visibly moved.

Despite the change in energy from the heavier acts that preceded and followed him, Nordstrom’s solo set proved to be an essential part of the night. It provided a pause for introspection and allowed the audience to connect on a deeply emotional level. His ability to command a room with nothing but a guitar and his voice underscored his talent and versatility, leaving a lasting impression that would be talked about long after the show ended.

A Killer’s Confession:
Closing out the night, A Killer’s Confession stormed the stage with an explosive twenty plus song performance that solidified their reputation as one of the most dynamic and engaging bands in the modern metal scene. From the moment the lights dimmed and the opening chords of “Voices” featuring Aaron Nordstrom from Gemini Syndrome rang out, the energy in Hangar 1819 shifted into overdrive. Frontman Waylon Reavis, a powerhouse of charisma and raw emotion, commanded the audience’s attention with every move, ensuring the night ended on a high note.

The band’s set was a rollercoaster of heavy grooves, crushing riffs, and emotionally charged melodies. Songs like “Greed” and “Killed or Be Killed” showcased their ability to seamlessly blend blistering aggression with moments of vulnerability. Reavis’ vocals were a masterclass in versatility, switching effortlessly between guttural screams and soaring, melodic cleans that carried the weight of each song’s emotional core. His ability to connect with the crowd, both through his vocals and his stage presence, was magnetic.

The rest of the band delivered a tight and powerful performance that perfectly complemented Reavis’ energy. The rhythm section was relentless, with thunderous drumming and a bassline that rattled the venue’s walls. The dual guitar attack provided layers of depth, alternating between chugging riffs and intricate solos that added flair to the performance. Tracks like “Rain” and “Filth” had the crowd moshing and chanting along, creating an electric atmosphere that pulsed throughout the room.

A Killer’s Confession also made sure to engage the audience beyond the music. Reavis often paused between songs to speak to the crowd, sharing heartfelt messages about perseverance and unity. The audience responded with cheers of agreement, creating a sense of camaraderie that elevated the night’s experience. The highlight of their set was the performance of “Angel on the Outside,” a song about rejection and finding your place after losing everything.

The band also played numerous hit songs from Reavis’ previous band “Mushroomhead.”

A Killer’s Confession proved why they were the headliners, delivering a performance that was as technically impressive as it was emotionally resonant. Their ability to balance heavy intensity with moments of genuine connection made their set a standout and a fitting conclusion to an unforgettable night at Hangar 1819.
